Paolo Roberti di Sarsina, M.D, Specialist in Psychiatry, has worked in several psychiatry units under the Italian National Health System carrying out clinical psychiatry and activities for the integration of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine in the Italian welfare. He plays a fundamental role in Italian Traditional, Complementary, Alternative and Non Conventional Medicine fields. He is also actively involved in European networks.
In 2003 promoted, coordinated and chaired the first ever Consensus Conference for Complementary and Alternative Medicine in Italy; consequently was the founder and coordinator of the Committee for Non Conventional Medicine in Italy (CAMCom).
He served from 2006 to 2013 as the Expert for Non-Conventional Medicine, High Council of Health, Ministry of Health, Italy.
Served as referee for WHO documents about TCAM.
He has been the representative of Italy in the “North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Science and Technology Organization (STO), Task Force, Human Factors and Medicine (STO-TR-HFM) 195, Integrative Medicine Interventions for Military Personnel”, 2010-2014.
Italian member of the European Union 7th Framework Programme (EU FP7) funded “CAMbrella Consortium, a pan-European research network for Complementary and Alternative Medicine”, 2010-2012.
He is involved in the EU funded “China and Europe Taking Care of Healthcare Solutions Consortium”, CHETCH, 2014-2017, under EU 7th Framework Programme (FP7), People Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSE).
He also participated in the European Union Actions COST-action E39 “Forests, Trees and Human Health & Wellbeing” (Domain: Forests, their Products and Services), 2004-2008 Member Working Group 1: Physical and mental health and well-being.
Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of International Network for Development of Research in Ayurveda, INDRA.
Dr Roberti di Sarsina is the sole Italian researcher quoted in the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014-2023.
He is responsible for Complementary and Alternative Medicine and Contacts to Patient Organisations of the European Association for Predictive, Preventive and Personalised Medicine, EPMA; and the chairperson for Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine of the European Society for Person Centered Healthcare, ESPCH.
Member of the International Advisory Board of Nordic Integrative Medicine Foundation
He is founder and president of the Charity for Person Centered Medicine, based in Bologna, Italy, the sole Italian Charity devoted to the paradigm of Person Centered Medicine. The Charity has been raised to Moral Entity, according to the Italian Law www.medicinacentratasullapersona.org .
He is member of the Italian Press and member of the Union of Italian Medicine Scientific Information Journalists.
Paolo Roberti di Sarsina currently is the chairperson for Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine of the Observatory and Methods for Health, University of Milano-Bicocca, Milano, Italy and the Coordinator of the Mastercourse “Healthcare Systems, Traditional and Non-Conventional Medicine” in the same university.
